The Supreme Court is expected to take up gay rights this year, and it now has yet another case to consider. A federal appeals court in New York on Thursday became the second to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) as unfair to gays. NPR's Nina Totenberg explains how the high court decides which cases to take for review.
