Paris (CNN) -- A man was holding four people hostage Wednesday in a bank in the southern French city of Toulouse, authorities said.

The incident occurred at the CIC bank.

The man fired one shot, and police are at the scene.

Toulouse was the site of a 32-hour standoff in March when police cornered a man wanted in the killing of seven people.

Mohammed Merah was killed March 22 by police after the standoff at a Toulouse apartment. The bank is about 500 meters from that apartment.

Merah was wanted for the killings of three French paratroopers, a rabbi, and three Jewish children ages 4, 5, and 7. Two other people were seriously wounded in shootings blamed on him.
