(CNN) -- A 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit central Chile on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The earthquake was at a depth of 18.6 miles (30 km) and struck 16 miles (27 km) north-northwest of Talca, the USGS said. It had originally reported the quake was offshore.
No tsunami warning was issued and there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
